Beautiful Rain (ビューティフルレイン)

Beautiful Rain tells the story of the single father Keisuke Kinoshita (Toyokawa Etsushi) and his younger daughter, Miu (Ashida Mana). His wife died eight years ago after giving birth to Miu. Keisuke and Miu live in a small apartment on top of the Nakamura factory, which is also Keisuke's workplace. The two have a pretty amazing father-daughter relationship and live a normal life, but lately Keisuke's been quite forgetful. He is forgetting things even when Miu reminds him permanently. After a workplace accident Keisuke receives a CT scan at the hospital. The result is terryfying: He is suffering from early onset Alzheimer's.

Ashida Mana plays a cheerful and smart girl with a strong personality, which is not willing to leave her father's side, no matter how tough it may get. She plays her role really well. Her expression is above average. She conveys her emotions clearly and in a natural way. The relationship between Toyokawa Etsushi and Ashida Mana is so natural and easy, it makes you believe they are real father and daughter.

The drama might seem predictable right form the start, but it doesn't undermine its quality. It's painful to the core, but it's definitely a must-see.
